    Education

Developmental Screens must be completed on all children within the first 45 days of enrollment. This agency uses Brigance Preschool Screen II published by Curriculum Associates for 3-4 year old children and Ages and Stages Questionnairepublished by Brooks for birth to three-year-old children.

An identified curriculum must be implemented. This agency uses: Creative Curriculum by Diane Trister Dodge published by Teaching Strategies for center based programming and Parents as Teachers  from the Parents as Teachers National Center for the Home Based programming.

The agency must assess progress for participants. This agency uses: Work Sampling (3-5) and OUNCE (birth to three) published by Pearson Early Learning. This agency assess 3-4 year old children three times a year gathering a baseline in the fall a midline in Dec and a spring assessment. The OUNCE program assesses birth to three year children according to their age but no less than twice a year.

    Health Services

Health services are provided for every child enrolled with this agency. Black Hawk Health Department is the contractor for the service delivery. Every child must be up to date on immunizations, have a current physical examination, have a current dental examination and have an identified medical and dental home. Individual health plans are written for children with special medical conditions requiring attention by trained personnel.

    Family Services

Parents are identified as the child’s first and best teacher. Every family is encouraged to complete a Family Partnership Agreement. Family members are assisted with identifying their strengths, needs, interests and problem solving. The Family Worker meets with the family to assist in the goal setting process for the parents and their children and helps the family monitor their progress in achieving their goals. The building of rapport between staff and families allows them to share with and learn from each other.   Families are provided information regarding community resources, services to pregnant women and the importance of parent involvement. Staff make referrals for families as needs are discussed.
